Minnesotasta tuli ensimmäinen Usan valtioista, jossa tulee olemaan laitonta myydä älypuhelimia ilman erityistä 'kill switch'- toimintoa. Varkauden sattuessa se kauko-ohjattuna vaurioittaa puhelinta niin, että siitä tulee käyttökelvoton. Laki astuu voimaan ensimmäinen heinäkuuta 2015. Myös Englannissa 'kill switchien' pakollisuudesta ollaan kiinnostuneita.
Seeing the headline I was like "wooah, did my eyes really just read that!?". I thought the article was about some horrible app that kills people when used or something. What a relief. The only thing it 'kills' is the phone. In the event of theft it might really be useful for the rightful owner to have a possibility to erase everything from the phone and make it unusable. Take that, thief. I think that this kind of switch will be very important thing to have in phones, since people often have all kinds of personal stuff in them.

'Biggest dinosaur ever' discovered

Arkeologit uskovat Argentiinasta löydettyjen dinosauruksenluiden kuuluneen suurimmalle koskaan maan päällä kävelleelle olennolle. Paikallisen maatilan työntekijä kompastui jäännöksiin aavikolla lähellä La Flechaa, ja sittemmin ne kaivoi esiin ryhmä paleontologeja Museum of Palaeontology Egidio Ferugliosta. Toistaiseksi vielä nimettömän jättiläisen on arvioitu painaneen 77 tonnia, eli neljäntoista afrikannorsun verran.
I used to be a real dinosaur-fanatic when I was younger, so this piece of news made me very happy. It's always great when new discoveries are made. Trying to understand the size of this newly found giant makes my head hurt though, since my mind hasn't enough capacity of imagining anything that massive. Massiveness is just something that goes way beyond my comprehension.

Short men are likely to live longer because they carry the 'longevity gene', scientists reveal

Tutkijat ovat löytäneet ihmisistä 'pitkäikäisyysgeenin', ja sitä havaitaan enemmän lyhyissä henkilöissä. Tästä päätellään että lyhyemmät elävät mahdollisesti pidempään kuin pitkät ihmiset. Tutkimuksesta käy ensimmäistä kertaa ilmi se, että ruumiin koko linkittyy kyseiseen geeniin.
I wonder if this gene works for women too. Since I'm not that tall myself, I find this piece of news very intriguing, because.. well, I guess we all want to live a long, happy life, am I right? Although the text spoke only of men. I hope it's not some kind of gender-related thing. It would be unfair if only males would be given this kind of privilege, even if it would be just a tiny thing like a 'longevity gene'.
